Downtown Waynesboro Gears Up for Two Signature Events

Waynesboro, VA – After a successful Virginia Street Arts Festival, Downtown Waynesboro is keeping the momentum going with two more events. Tour the Town returns for its fifth year on May 27, followed by the third annual Hiker Fest on June 6.

Tour the Town invites residents and visitors to experience downtown like a tourist. Participating businesses will offer specials and free gifts and restaurants will showcase their specialties with small bites and drink samples. Proceeds from Tour the Town support Destination Downtown Waynesboro’s ongoing efforts to strengthen and promote Downtown through events, beautification, and community programming. Tickets can be purchased here or at 301 W Main Street Monday – Friday from 9am – 4pm.

Just over a week later, Hiker Fest returns to celebrate Waynesboro’s connection to the Appalachian Trail and outdoor culture. The festival features live music, outdoor and artisan vendors, food, yoga, educational programming, story time with Not Oatmeal, craft beer, and free breakfast for 2026 Appalachian Trail thru hikers sponsored by The Russell Museum. The festival will kick off on June 5 with a hiker feed at Rockfish Gap and will feature shuttles and free camping for hikers.

Both events are part of a lineup of downtown programming aimed at creating memorable experiences while supporting local businesses and showcasing Waynesboro’s evolving Downtown.

“Downtown Waynesboro has really built momentum over the last few years,” said Meghan Murphy, President of Destination Downtown Waynesboro. “Events like Tour the Town and Hiker Fest give people a reason to explore and experience what is happening in Downtown Waynesboro. There’s a lot of energy surrounding downtown right now, and these events really highlight that.”
