Waynesboro Receives $216,500 VBRSP Grant
WAYNESBORO, VA– The Waynesboro Economic Development Authority has been awarded a $216,500 grant as part of the Virginia Business Ready Sites Program (VBRSP). The program is designed to assist communities in preparing industrial or commercial sites for new business. The grant will help offset the water and sewer design engineering work slated to begin later this summer at Waynesboro’s Nature’s Crossing Technology Center.
“We appreciate the foresight of Governor McAuliffe, Secretary Haymore, the General Assembly, and the staff of Virginia Economic Development Partnership in creating the VBRSP,” says Gregory E. Hitchin, Director of Economic Development and Tourism for Waynesboro. “This grant represents a significant stride in our strategic goal of developing Nature’s Crossing Technology Center into a marketable industrial site.”
Nature’s Crossing Technology Center is a 170-acre parcel located at the southwest intersection of Delphine Avenue and I-64 exit 96. Once completed, it will offer industrial sites up to 40 acres with rail service. The main entrance on Delphine will be the eastern terminus of the new Southern Corridor connector road, which will join Shenandoah Village Drive to Delphine Avenue, thereby linking Waynesboro’s two industrial parks.
