
BOOST Tourism Grants Awarded by the City of Waynesboro
City Invests in Marketing Activities to Drive Visitation
Waynesboro, VA – The City of Waynesboro invests annually in tourism-related business endeavors, events, and projects through its grant program, Building Opportunities to Support Tourism (BOOST). City businesses and organizations are invited to apply for up to $3,000 to support the marketing of eligible activities such as events, festivals, and initiatives designed to increase tourist traffic. Funds are available for new and existing tourism efforts taking place within the City of Waynesboro between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026.
“We’re thrilled to support projects in Waynesboro that attract visitors from beyond our region through the BOOST Grant Program,” said Stephanie Duffy, Assistant Director of Economic Development & Tourism for the City of Waynesboro. “This initiative allows us to collaborate with local tourism businesses and organizations, helping them expand their marketing efforts and shine a spotlight on the incredible attractions and events our community has to offer.”
Visitor spending reached a new record in Virginia in 2024, growing by 5.4% over 2023, to an impressive $35.1 billion. The tourism industry plays an essential role in both the state and local economy. This year’s BOOST grant program reflects Waynesboro’s commitment to strengthening its tourism industry and supporting its continued growth.
A four-person committee comprised of city employees and a representative from the Virginia Tourism Corporation reviewed a record number of applications for the program. This year, $15,000 in total funding was awarded, with nine applicants receiving full or partial funding. The 2025-2026 BOOST grant recipients are adorn., Waynesboro Farmers Market, Waynesboro Heritage Museum, Riverfest, The Russell Museum, Rusticae, The Foundry, Virginia Institute of Blacksmithing, and the Fall Foliage Art Show
