City of Waynesboro Opens BOOST Grant Application to Promote Tourism Growth
Waynesboro, VA – The City of Waynesboro’s Tourism Department is pleased to announce the return of its Building Opportunities to Support Tourism (BOOST) Grant Program, providing up to $3,000 per applicant to support marketing efforts for festivals, events, and initiatives that attract visitors from more than 50 miles away. This program, which is funded through annual City Council appropriations, can be used for marketing activities that promote one-time events, a series of events, or marketing initiatives that draw tourists to Waynesboro.
“Tourism plays a vital role in Waynesboro’s local economy,” said Stephanie Duffy, Assistant Director of Economic Development & Tourism. “We are excited to offer the BOOST Grant Program once again to provide support for event organizers and tourism businesses as they continue to grow and improve their programs which drive visitation to Waynesboro.”
Applications are now open, with a draft review deadline of July 23, 2025 for early feedback, and final submissions due by August 1, 2025. Funding decisions will be announced by August 11, 2025.
BOOST grants have helped local organizations amplify their reach with eight recipients receiving full or partial funding totaling $15,000 during the last cycle. Past recipients include Riverfest, the Fall Foliage Art Show, and the Virginia Institute of Blacksmithing. These events and initiatives brought thousands of visitors to Waynesboro last year.
