Waynesboro Celebrates the Appalachian Trail with Hiker Fest 2025
Waynesboro, VA – Waynesboro is gearing up for the third annual Hiker Fest June 6-7, 2025. This two-day celebration spotlights the city’s connection to the Appalachian Trail and welcomes thru-hikers, outdoor enthusiasts, and everyone in between to a day filled with live music, food and drinks, vendor booths, educational programming, and more.
On Friday, June 6, the event kicks off with Trail Magic at Rockfish Gap from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, where volunteers will provide food, shuttles, and a warm Waynesboro welcome to hikers. That evening the party moves downtown with live music at Delly Up starting at 5:00 pm.
The main event is Saturday, June 7, from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm and features a full day of activities. AT thru-hikers can enjoy a free breakfast at the Russell Museum before hitting the music, vendors, and trail-focused programming. Highlights include talks by legendary hiker Warren Doyle, a trail angel info session with Ms. Janet, free yoga sessions, henna, tarot, and DIY t-shirt decorating. Visitors can browse gear and artisan vendors, grab food and drinks from local favorites like Delly Up and Basic City Beer Co., and enjoy live performances by HOBOJAC, One Love Project, and Sisters and Brothers.
Made possible by a $5,000 grant from the Virginia Tourism Corporation, matching funds from Destination Downtown Waynesboro, and local sponsors, Hiker Fest is a grassroots event designed to celebrate Waynesboro’s role as an AT trail town and bring residents and visitors into the heart of the city. This event is free and open to the public, rain or shine.
