Waynesboro named best city to reside in Virginia

From The News Virginian, Staff Reports

Waynesboro was chosen as the best city to reside in Virginia in a 24/7 Wall St.

“There are nearly 20,000 villages, towns and cities across the 50 states,” the 24/7 Wall St. story notes.

24/7 Wall St. created a weighted index of over two dozen measures to identify the best city to live in each state, the story said. Census-designated places, cities, towns and villages with at least 8,000 residents were considered.

The top city in each state for the article was decided on quality of life including: close relationships, personal health, local community, environment, safe streets, a strong economy, affordability, a range of entertainment options and etcetera.

The cities are listed in alphabetical order via state. This puts Waynesboro at number 46.

The article said Waynesboro “is notable for its affordability, safety and scenic beauty. Goods and services in the city are about 7 percent less expensive than they are nationwide on average. Additionally, the violent crime rate of 182 incidents per 100,000 people is less than half the U.S. violent crime rate of 383 per 100,000.”

It goes on to compliment Waynesboro’s location.

“Located in the Shenandoah Valley, Waynesboro offers easy access to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian Trail. The South River cuts through the city, providing a water trail for residents to fish and enjoy by boat. Waynesboro also has a higher than typical concentration of restaurants, movie theatres and museums.”

24/7 Wall St., LLC is a Delaware corporation which runs a financial news and opinion company with content delivered over the Internet, the website said. 24/7 Wall St. is not an investment adviser, and the content of the site is not an endorsement to buy or sell any securities, according to 247wallst.com.
