City of Waynesboro, Virginia, Receives Excellence in Economic Development Award from the IEDC
City of Waynesboro Virginia received a Bronze Excellence in Economic Development Award for its 2014 project in the category of Special Purpose Print Brochure for communities with populations of less than 25,000 from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
The honor was presented at an awards ceremony on Monday, October 20, during the IEDC Annual Conference, which was held October 19-22, in Fort Worth, Texas.
“Economic development efforts have long been a keystone in the quest to bolster the economy and improve quality of life in every locality across the country,” said Bill Sproull, IEDC chair. “As the nation continues to tackle challenges in the midst of global uncertainty, these efforts have taken on an even greater significance. With this award, we laud trendsetting organizations like City of Waynesboro Virginia for leading the charge.”
“Starting a business can be a complex endeavor. Many prospective entrepreneurs don’t know where to start or have awareness of all the steps necessary to start and continue a successful business.
This brochure was designed to provide entrepreneurs with a clear path to starting a business in Waynesboro. We surveyed our small business development partners for information and then took the traditional checklist one step further by showing the sequential pathway of launching a business. Resource partners are noted along the way and summarized with contact information within the brochure. We truly appreciate the partnership with Mountain Laurel Studio in Waynesboro for taking our concept and creating this graphically stunning brochure.”
Greg Hitchin, Director of Economic Development and Tourism continues, “The goals of the brochure are to provide a single source of information describing the path to starting a business; identify steps, sequence, and available resources; and to ask questions to help entrepreneurs focus on each step. The brochure is available for use by our partners in small business development and on our website at https://waynesborobusiness.com/Local-Business-Services-Starting-A-Business.aspx. “
IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year’s most influential leaders.
